It’s that time of year again. Like many of you, I absolutely love fall and everything that comes with the season; from the crisp evenings and pumpkin spice lattes to cozy family activities and the beautiful décor that fills our homes.
As the seasons shift and the air turns a little cozier, I caught myself browsing for new fall decorations, completely captivated by all the pretty, trending pieces. And while I’ll admit I did treat myself to two new fall mugs and a really pretty ceramic pumpkin for my front door, I decided to stop there.
I reminded myself that even though I adored so many of the new designs, I didn’t actually need them. In fact, I already had a box full of autumn décor in my garage waiting to be rediscovered. That’s when I pulled out my trusty autumn wreath, the same one that’s hung on my door for the past few years. Although it isn’t what’s trending, It’s still lovely, but it definitely needed a little refresh. So, I decided to reuse and update it.
With just a few small changes, adding pretty sunflowers, adjusting some leaves, and swapping out a few worn pieces I gave it new life. It looked bright and full again, perfectly capturing that golden, in-between moment of fall fading into something new.
This simple project reminded me of something important, we already have so much around us to work with. It’s easy to get caught up in the idea that we need to constantly buy or upgrade, but creativity truly thrives when we use what we already have. Whether it’s rearranging a room, reviving a favorite outfit, or refreshing an old wreath, there’s real joy in rediscovering the beauty that’s been right in front of us all along.
Refreshing what we already own isn’t just a smart move for your finances, it’s also a quiet act of sustainability and gratitude. It encourages us to slow down, look closer, and find inspo in simplicity.
So before you toss something out or click “add to cart,” take a moment to see what can be reimagined. You might be surprised by how fulfilling it feels to make something “new” out of what you already own. Sometimes, the best kind of refresh starts with what’s already home.
